A manipulation of a photo I took of the Washington Monument in D.C.
I tried to make it look like it was cut from an old film reel; I used a texture I made from another photo
and a scan of a negative.

The main purpose of this is from what I've been seeing on CNN and other news stations, this new "war" in the middle east is being drawn out on TV like a film, you can’t tell if the anchors care about the people there, or just the story, so I created a "film" like image from something that most citizens respect.
To add, I saw the same thing at Arlington; at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, some people show up thinking it’s a free show, sit back and watch and talk during the changing of the guards, people going where they should not be going, they forget that it is a cemetery and respect should be shown, yet they act like it’s an attraction at some theme park.
One family had a kid playing and screaming after the change, and the guard turned about; and walked over to the parents telling them to please control the situation or leave, he stood there until they did and the father said a crude remark, and they left.

An old John Deere tractor I found while riding home (bike) from my college class. Just sitting at the corner of a large farm, it had a for sale sign by it for a long time, but now thats gone and just the tractor remains. I'm going to get some more pics of it next class, I'll bring the tripod along this time.

An elderly man we passed on the Chicago trip (the China Town portion), I wanted to take a candid shot, so I kept my camera at my side and took the picture (I adjusted the focus on a wall that was about the same distance from me that the man was) But I had the camera to high and did not get the little boy next to him.

This is the Cloud Gate (aka The Bean) sculpture on the AT&T Plaza (stupid companies taking over Chicago) in Millennium Park.I took it at an angle I have never seen somebody take before, I was able to get some of the Jay Pritzker Pavilion (a realy sweet place when lit at night) and most of the sky, giving it the name The mime, since it "mimmics" the sky.

I thought that this placement was kinda ironic, as the Jesus statue is by the window with him carying the cross, and it's like the Angel is explaining it to him.
I picked this one out because of that scene, and I'm happy with how the lighting turned out.(same church as Overlook and Saving Light)

This is an extended roof over the entrance to building A of the local college (MCC) I took two cameras with to get this shot, since I currently have b&w in my 35mm.

Matchbox Light box - Light box project

Using a small sliding matchbox (box) as the frame, and an LED light for the light source, and on top will be an image.

Spray Paint
Transparent sheets
3v Lithium Batteries: 8-16
LED bulbs: 8-16 (Deciding on colored or White, white is $5 for 2. Color is $2.50 for 20

Idea behind it: Sticking w/ the society theme, or maybe create a chess board - pieces w/ light boxes.
Experimenting with light and color, Light stimulates the colors on the transparent sheets.
Original Idea came from pop machines, front is lit, color attracts people.

Other:
Large light box will have a large transparent image on it, (printed at repographics)
Boarder will be about 3in due to cost.
2 smaller light boxes of equal size will go w/ the larger one.

An example would be his infa-red photgraphy - found in his nature shots, gives trees a

Cousin and I Biked to the trail from the campground (twin valley) here is a MAP

this fall is located inside a miles length patch of forest. You walk down a natural stone staircase - bunch of rocks, boulders. The small spring feeds a tiny creek and goes for a distance before leading off the "trail" (not shure if you're supposed to go as far as we did). According to my grandparents, when they came 20 some years ago, this fall was pouring water, while now it's a minor trickle. At some point the Rock part is going to detatch from the rest of the wall, because of water erosion, now you can almost crawl behind the rock front.
It's a great spot to go when it's 103*F it's cool under the tree cover, and there is a cold mist that floats over the area. Next time I need to bring a sound recorder, the place has a strange calming sound. And there is no car or heavy city noises anywhere.

This guy takes amazing photos, he finds great angles, and lighting. Most of his work is architecture, which I enjoy taking. He also does some cool things with lighting. He also Has a great set of reflection shots.
One strange bit is that he takes pictures of weathered walls - floor - streets and manipulates them so they become an abstract photo-painting like thing.

Those are all the better images I had from the trip Downtown, I learned how to use the camera better since it's alot different from the digital, and it's been two years since I used a manual camera. Editing the photos is getting easy, I just have to learn to not go hog wild on the image and manipulate it, which this group of photos helped out with.

What I learned:

This was taken from our room on the 22 floor in the Hilton Down Town, (Dad's company party)
The building pictured is the Blackstone (built in 1908 finished 1910). As a plus, we had a good view of Navy Pier, and a few other buildings. Title of picture came to mind since the Blackstone is an old building, and also in the picture are newer buildings.

I think this was an installation of some kind, but there were different ball-like lights set up in
the large planters on the sidewalk, both sides. One set was made to look like heads on people.

(update) AH NOOOO... Old things tend to cause trouble, the camera didn't catch the fourth or third roll of film I loaded... All my Millenium Park pictures are gone... What angers me is that the lighting was perfect Sunday, nobody was at the place, and I got some reflection shots of buildings and the Crown Fountains in puddles...

I guess taking a trip too the park will have to be an add-on to the Auto show.
And this time I will bring two cameras: Digital and the Pentax.
